About Our Job
Sarasota County is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator or Trainee. The person in this role operates and maintains pumps, equipment, and mechanical and automatic controls to maintain proper operations of wastewater treatment facilities.
Job Description:

Collect, record and interpret data for completion and utilization of operation and maintenance records as directed.

Collect samples and perform chemical analyses as directed.

Perform daily operations of pumps, motors, valves and other treatment plant equipment as directed so that the plant will operate within the parameters of tis operating permit and specific rules established by the applicable regulatory agencies.

Respond to emergency operational requirements as needed.

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, valves and other treatment plant equipment as directed.

Perform housekeeping and grounds maintenance as directed.
Shift Schedule
Day: 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Afternoon: 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
Midnight: 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
Other duties as required Perquisites / Allowances: Must wear Uniforms and Safety Shoes.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
Trainee: High School Diploma GED or equivalent.
Operator: Possession of a Class “A” “B” or “C” Water Treatment Plant Operator’s License as issued by the State of Florida and required by the position. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License.
About Everything Else
Trainee: Starting Pay $17.05
Operator Pay: $18.94 (Step 1) - $20.71 (Step 4) Depending on License
Treatment Plant Operator C: $18.94 (Step 1) - $23.30 (Step 8), based on your experience and license
Treatment Plant Operator B: $19.89 (Step 1) - $24.47 (Step 8), based on your experience and license
Treatment Plant Operator A: $20.88 (Step 1) - $25.68 Step 8), based on your experience and license
