Description
As the Senior Systems Engineer, you will be the subject matter expert on all VMware and Microsoft related technologies. This position supports a group of flight dynamics engineers in the GSFC Flight Dynamics Facility (FDF) onsite (reduced on-site due to COVID). The FDF is a NASA Mission Essential Infrastructure facility that provides multi-mission navigation services for a wide range of robotic and human space flight spacecraft missions. The individual will support the services provided by the FDF Operations teams by making sure servers, workstations, software, peripherals, and the virtualization environment are functioning properly.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining, building, upgrading the organizations VMware infrastructure.
- Training other personnel on how to use, manage, and troubleshoot the VMWare environment.
- Participate in building an AWS environment using Terraform and Docker.
- Assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining a Hybrid VMware/AWS solution.
- Sharing in an onsite support role as Goddard Space Flight Center supporting critical mission activities including launch, docking, and landing for crewed and uncrewed missions.
- Support Microsoft Windows Active Directory and server environment.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft technologies.
Required Degree & Experience
BA or BS in Technology or other STEM related field or equivalent experience, 10 + years of experience.
Required Skills
- CISCO UCS, NetApp SANs, SRM, ESX/I, and Windows
- Backup and recovery of ESXi hosts, windows and Linux guests running on them.
- Site Recovery Manager (SRM)
- Microsoft Active Directory, FSMO roles.
- Microsoft server technologies such as file servers, workstations, imaging, and backups.
Desired Skills
- VMWare Cloud Foundation (VCF).
- Terraform code, IaaS.
- Application deployment via Lansweeper MS AD.
- Ansible, docker, EBS, S3, VPC, SGs, AZs, RDS, clusters, DR.
- AWS or Azure.
- AD, HPUX, group policies.
Security Clearance Requirements
- Must be eligible to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
