GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Performs complex (journey-level) multimedia operations and production work to include preparing and designing media content and overseeing operational maintenance of audio/visual needs of Training Operations Division. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use if initiative and independent judgement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist in producing and editing video projects, to include planning, scripting, capturing footage, and designing graphics and interactive media
materials for training materials and special events.

2. Control inventory of audio/visual equipment located in classrooms and prioritize upgrades and/or new installations in classrooms and conference
rooms for the Training Academy and Tactical Training Center.

3. Design, edit, and integrate digital content, photography, and other media visualization and imaging products.

4. Edit and review multimedia files for training and recruiting purposes using computer assisted and other special effects audio/visual equipment.

5. Perform audio recording sessions, edit, and mix effects for training material and promotional videos.

6. Maintain audio/visual media libraries and catalogs for the department. Ensure equipment room is clean and secure.

7. Troubleshoot audio/visual equipment, assist with technical questions and identify appropriate solutions. Provide basic instruction on operation of
audio/visual equipment for instructors when necessary.

8. Responsible for inspecting classrooms for damage and cleanliness and troubleshooting issues while providing applicable solutions.

9. Set up new equipment installations and existing audio/visual equipment.

10. Serve as liaison with contractors and suppliers on media projects as well as procurement of materials and supplies needed for project

11. Set up web and video conferences.

12. Replicate copies of videos for distribution upon request or in answer to public information request.

13. Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.

14. Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS:

Education – Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Graphics, Film, or Fine Arts preferred.

Experience – Minimum of three (3) years’ experience performing audio/visual and media production techniques. Experience in the operational maintenance of audio/visual equipment preferred.

Substitution Note: Additional work experience of the type described or other related education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.

Licensure and/or Certification – If driving is required, must possess a valid driver license from state of residence.

Regulatory Knowledge – Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures.

Technology – Proficient in all aspects of video production, graphic design, and multimedia software. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems (e.g. CAPPS, SharePoint) and be able to learn new software/systems.

Interpersonal Skills – Must demonstrate an ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy and an ability to establish and maintain positive, working/professional relationships with internal/external customers. Must demonstrate DPS’ core values: Integrity, Excellence, Accountability, and Teamwork.

Analytical Reasoning/Attention to Detail – Must demonstrate an ability to examine data/information, discern variations/similarities, and be able identify trends, relationships and causal factors, as well as grasp issues, draw accurate conclusions, and solve problems.

Confidentiality and Protected Information – Must demonstrate an ability to responsibly handle sensitive and confidential information and situations and adhere to applicable laws/statutes/policies related to access, maintenance and dissemination of information.

Safety – Must be able to work in safe manner at all times, avoiding shortcuts that have potential adverse results/risks, and must be able to comply with safety standards and best practices.

Schedule and/or Remote/Telecommuting work and/or Travel – Availability for after-hours and weekend work is required. Travel (in city and surrounding areas) up to 20%.

A DPS employee who is selected for a position in the same salary group and state title as their current position will be transferred with no salary change.

A DPS employee who is selected for a position in their current salary group with a new state title may receive an increase of no more than 3.4% over their current salary regardless of posted salary.

Salary is contingent upon qualifications and is subject to salary administration and budgetary restrictions.
