Symetra Corporate Finance has a great opportunity for a Financial Reporting Analyst (FRA)


About the role:


The FRA is a key team member of Symetra’s Enterprise Services team in Corporate Finance. The Enterprise Services team consists of teams supporting Financial Operations, Accounts Payable, Travel & Entertainment, and Payroll. The FRA will primarily support the Financial Operations team, as well as certain functions of the other teams in Enterprise Services. The FRA reports directly to the lead financial reporting analyst of Financial Operations.

The FRA will support the company’s operating expense close and reporting process, the preparation of accounting for fixed assets, prepaid expense, and lease accounting. Additionally, the FRA will prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, perform cost allocations and publish expense reports to management and business leaders.

The FRA will perform analysis on company expense results for both internal and external parties. The FRA will identify process for improvement and implement more efficient and reliable workflows.

The FRA has a strong understanding of the fundamentals of accounting and reporting requirements, with an ability and interest to take on complex tasks. If you have a high attention to detail and enjoy a fast paced and challenging environment, this is the position for you!


What you'll do in this role

  • Accounting for monthly activities related to fixed assets, prepaid assets, and leases.
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and all assigned tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Participate in monthly expense close, including the preparation & review of GAAP / STAT reporting for operating expenses, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, leases, and monthly cost allocations.

Compensation

Salary Range: ($60,500.to $100,800.) plus eligibility for annual bonus program


Your education, experience, and skills

    • A BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
    • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
    • CPA or CMA preferred, but not required
    • Strong computer skills, especially Excel, Access, and Word
    • Solid understanding of GAAP (and/or Statutory) accounting guidance
    • Experience with general ledger accounting systems (Lawson/Hyperion) a plus
    • Critical attention to detail
    • Highly motivated individual, with a strong desire to exceed expectations, desire to learn, looking for challenging and fast paced work environment
    • Good decision making, organization, and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to produce high quality assignments independently, with minimal guidance and be a subject matter of expert to other staff
    • Ability to interact effectively with different personality styles and build relationships
    • Ability to be innovative in resolving issues and improving processes
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
    • Goal oriented with a track record of driving through to completion
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule as need arises
