JOB TITLE: Travel Agent (Retail/ACD)

JOB LOCATION: Dania Beach Headquarters

PURPOSE: To book domestic and international travel arrangements ranging from cruises airline tickets, rail, land, tour packages, group tours, hotels, and car rentals to full vacation packages and other leisure products as requested by clients. To take client calls from the Cruise.com ACD (Automatic Call Distribution) system. Occasionally attends company sponsored cruise nights, trade shows, and agency events as necessary. The majority of the work will involve cruises and land packages with the possibility of pre and post extensions, packaged tours, and independent travel arrangements (FITs).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Assists clients with their leisure travel plans (via call center, walk-ins, inbound phone inquiries, and outbound sales calls), understands their requirements, and advises them of all their travel options.

• Based on the client’s wishes, offers and sells a full range of travel services such as Vacation Tour Packages including air, land, rail, cruise, hotel, car rental, group tours and other leisure products as requested. These could include but are not limited to: restaurant reservations, theatre, concert, sports events, etc.
• Promotes and sells travel insurance to protect the client’s travel arrangements.
• Builds relationships with clients and obtains referrals for future business.
• Provides high levels of service to the customers with professionalism, follow-up skills, and solid product knowledge.
• Attends company sponsored cruise nights, trade shows, and agency events held for clients as needed.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• At least two years of related work experience in leisure travel, preferably in a full-service retail travel environment
• Strong cruise sales/product knowledge experience
• Professional appearance and manner
• Proven sales and problem solving skills
• Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills
• Positive outgoing demeanor and passion for industry
• Computer proficiency and recent experience with AMADEUS is preferred. Proficiency in SABRE and TRAMS is acceptable.
• Superior destination and world geographic knowledge
• Knowledge of travel rules and regulations
• Strong attention to detail
• Must be able to work a 40-hour, five day workweek.*

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time (up to 8 hours) assisting clients using a computer and a telephone. Ability to see, read, and speak.

*Special Note: There is no requirement for travel agents to work overtime (i.e., over 40 hours a workweek). If, for business reasons, an agent is required to attend a four-hour company sponsored event for consumers, held outside the agent’s normal workday/workweek, then the agent would adjust his/her normal workweek schedule by 4 hours in the current workweek so that the 40-hour workweek is not exceeded. For overtime calculation purposes, the fixed workweek at Cruise.com is seven consecutive 24 hour periods that begin on Saturday at 12:01 a.m. and end on Friday at midnight. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, employers cannot average two weeks together in order to avoid exceeding 40 hours. It is expected that the agent and supervisor will agree on the modified work schedule in advance.

Pay: $15.50 per hour
