Responds to oil spills on pipeline right of way, at pump stations, and in water ways. Assists with all aspects of oil spill containment and recovery. Sets up, inspects, loads, and unloads heavy equipment and equipment of various types. Responsible for safe operation of Tractor Hauling Lowboy, Hi Deck, Vacuum Truck, Water Truck and other equipment. Performs station and right of way (ROW) maintenance, assists with snow removal, and supports other Alyeska projects.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Learn and follow safety regulations.
- Communicates via telephone, radio and in-person with co-workers and others.
- Communicates in writing, keeps records of material and equipment usage, and problems encountered.
- Check fuel supplies at sites to ensure adequate availability.
- Inspects and performs light maintenance on equipment.
- Loads and unloads heavy equipment off and on tractor-trailer trucks.
- Connect hydraulic hoses, bells, mechanical linkages, or power lake-off shafts to tractors.
- Select and fasten correct bulldozer blades or other attachments to tractors, using hitches.
- Start engines, move throttles, switches, and levers, and depress pedals to operate machines such as bulldozers, trench excavators, road graders, and backhoes.
- Adjust hand wheels and depress pedals to control attachments such as blades, buckets, scrapers, and swing booms.
- Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
- Take actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions such as at pump station, pipelines, utility lines, other workers, and falling objects.
- Operate loaders to pull out tree stumps, rip asphalt or concrete, rough-grade properties, bury refuse, or perform general cleanup.
- Operate equipment to demolish and remove debris, and to remove snow from ROW and at station.
- Locate underground services, such as pipes and wires, prior to beginning work.
- Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, and materials, using trucks, crawler tractors, power cranes,shovels, graders, and related equipment.
- Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas lo remove topsoil, vegetation, and rocks, and to distribute and level earth or terrain.
- Operate tractors and bulldozers to perform such tasks as clearing land, mixing sludge, trimming backfills, Right of ways and station area.
- Repair and maintain equipment, making emergency adjustments or assisting with major repairs as necessary.
Special Skills:
Oil Spill Response (applies to all oil spill contingency personnel)
- Respond to oil spills on pipe right of way, at pump stations, and in water ways (during drills and/or actual spills).
- Haul oil spill equipment and operate vacuum trucks for oil spills (during drills or actual spills).
- Assist in Building dikes, diversion berms and containment areas, assists with all aspects of oil spilt containment and recovery.
- Operates pumps, skimmers, and all contingency equipment.
Pump Station Maintenance
- Collect and burn pump station trash from Baseline and Houston shops.
- Shift ash on a quarterly basis and have sampled.
- Support various pump station projects such as building and maintaining dikes for contaminated soil stockpiles, pipeline shutdowns, and manually raises valves for scrapper pig procedure.
- Clean and maintains Baseline stations grounds and office trailer.
- Maintain staging, lay down, and storage areas.
- Mining and screening gravel and other organic materials to replenish and stockpile station inventory
Qualification Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Heavy equipment operator certification
- Valid state driver's license.
- Union membership
