Job Description Summary
The Sterile Processing Coordinator reports to the Manager, Sterile Processing. Under general supervision of the department manager, shift supervisor or designee, the SPD performs instrument production, case assembly, sterile processing, decontamination of surgical instruments in compliance with medical center policies and procedures, state, local and federal requirements. This position participates in quality improvement initiatives, functions as a preceptor to new hires, and assumes role of supervisor in supervisor’s absence. This position may require supervisory roles of multiple locations.Job Description

Additional Job Description
Minimum Training and Education: High School Diploma. Graduation from an accredited school of surgical technology or surgical technology military program. Three years' experience or training within the specific work area with an emphasis in OR instrumentation. Certified Surgical Technologist credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, (formerly LCC-ST) required. Certification from an accredited certifying agency in as a supervisor in sterile processing preferred, however if supervisor certification is not held, must be obtained within 36 months and in two attempts or will result in demotion or separation of employment.
