What You’ll Do/ A Day in The Life Typically Includes
This position will prepare bids, proposals, quotes, and contracts within an assigned territory. Maintain customer account coding to ensure compliance with accepted proposals. Communicate with customers to provide discount and pricing information and answer associated questions. Special processing services projects as assigned by the Pricing Services Manager or the Senior Pricing Analyst.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (The following statements describe the general nature of work being performed in this job. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by management):
- Maintain independently an assigned territory for bids, proposals, contract and pricing administration including preparing bid background, analysis, statistics, pricing options and proposals.
- Develop understanding of Baker & Taylor products and services and library workflows to facilitate building responses to library bid requests. Accurately and professionally describe B&T’s response to each library’s requirements in written proposals.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with institutional city, county and state government purchasing offices for contract correspondence and administration within the assigned territory.
- Design and complete special contract, pricing and audit projects as assigned by the Pricing Services Director.
- Troubleshoot day-to-day pricing and contract issues with sales management and other internal Baker & Taylor departments. Share results with the rest of the group and make recommendations for improvements.

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A) from four-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent PC skills including word processing and spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of B&T systems including SOP, Title Source, UpShot, etc.
- Ability to generate and interpret reports using Splash.
- Excellent organizational skills. Must have the ability to multi-task and meet demanding deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands and fingers to use computer equipment; talk and hear; and lift/move up to 50 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Specific vision requirements include close vision in order to view PC/CRT and read written documents.
