The Solon Service Department is accepting applications for a full-time Service Worker II. This position requires flexibility and adaptability in skill set, job assignment, and time management. This position requires the passing of a Physical Civil Service Agility Test and interview process, which will be determined at a later date.
This position’s primary responsibilities include removal of residential solid waste and recycling, brush collection, leaf collection, general maintenance of public streets and city properties, storm and sanitary sewers, snow and ice removal, and provides assistance for other Service Department related functions and operations.
The following are the minimum qualifications required to apply for the Service Worker II position:

• Must have a high school degree or GED equivalency certification
• Must hold a valid Driver’s License, and at minimum, a current temporary Class B CDL permit. A Class B CDL will be required within 1 year of hire date
• Applicant must successfully pass Physical Civil Service Agility Test
• Applicant must successfully pass a BMV check, a background and pre-employment drug screen

This position is Civil Service and a member of a bargaining unit. It is slotted at Grade D on Solon’s wage scale offering a starting hourly pay range of $20.00/hour for non-CDL applicants and $20.50/hour for CDL applicants. City benefits include Health Care (Employee participation), prescription, dental, and vision. In addition, benefits include membership in the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System (OPERS), vacation, sick leave accruals, and select paid holidays.
