As a member of the health center’s integrated care team, the Senior Medical Assistant will fulfill the following KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES towards the provision of patient centered, coordinated patient care:
  • Leads and Trains Medical Assistants in their daily job responsibilities to assure efficient and standardized patient care.
  • Support the Health Center Manager to distribute workflows.
  • Assume daily operation of the health center in the absence of the Health Center Manager.
  • Assist the Health Center Manager to monitor and adjust staff schedules to ensure efficient delivery of service and adequate break/lunch times. This includes the authority to make changes in staffing patterns and/or duties to assure optimum flow and patient satisfaction.
  • Travel to other Health Centers to provide coverage as needed.
  • Completes orientation/safety/skills checklist for new hires.
  • Promote continuous communication between administrative and direct patient care services teams.
  • Assure regular communication with Call Center to adjust schedules as needed.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service and strong interpersonal communication skills with both co-workers and patients.
  • Serves as a staff or floater Medical Assistant as needed (see MA job description for details).
  • Develops and implements clinical quality assurance protocols and programs.
  • Adheres to guidelines and requirements from funders (HRSA) and quality designations (JCHAO, PCMH etc…).
  • Demonstrates professional maturity by solving problems in the early stages, maintaining staff cohesion, and keeping leaders informed about emerging or critical issues.
  • Working on-site is an essential duty for the job.
  • Other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED SKILLS OR ABILITIES:
  • Must be a role model by exemplifying CCI Standards of Behavior.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and training skills
  • Must have excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Requires 5 years of experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Must be able to demonstrate mastery of all MA workflows.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have High school diploma or equivalent and have successfully completed and graduated from a medical assistant program with a minimum of five years of experience as a medical assistant.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Must have skills, ability, and temperament to train new employees.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Performs standard tasks associated with patient care with minimal oversight from supervisor.
  • Receipt of high-level ratings on the past 3 performance evaluations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Work under stressful conditions within a controlled enclosed environment daily. Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
  • ADA Category. In accordance with the American with Disabilities Act, it is possible that requirements may be modified to reasonably accommodate disabled individuals. However, no accommodations will be made which may pose serious health or safety risks to the employee or others or which impose undue hardships on the organization.
  • OSHA Category. Clinical environment. Possibility of exposure to chemicals and infectious body fluids e.g., HPV, HIV, HEP C, HSV.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • The ability to speak and write English fluently, as well as the ability to utilize telephone, computer terminals and copiers is required.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and bending.
  • The ability to lift (up to 15lb required).
