School Counselor (Full Time Split)

Location: Oakley Elementary School (High-Needs School) & Johnston Elementary School (High-Needs School)

*Please note this is a split position- 50% of time will be spent at Oakley and 50% at Johnston*

• Date Available: 8/18/22

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Months, unless otherwise specified.

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in the NC Educator Effectiveness System, in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.

Salary: Based on State Salary Schedule
($38,500 - $63,400) Annual Salary + [8.5% - 16% local supplement]

Reports To: Principal

Qualifications:
 Completion of an approved program in school counseling at the master's level or above
 NTE/Praxis Professional School Counselor test. Educational Testing Service (ETS)
 Must hold, or be eligible to hold, a NC License as School Counselor
 Must adhere to ethical standards of the counseling profession
 Develop & maintain a written plan for effective delivery of the school counseling program based on the NC Comprehensive School Counseling Standard Course of Study
 Communicate the goals of the comprehensive school counseling program to education stakeholders (school/family/community)
 Provide direct services through the Guidance Curriculum, Individual Student Planning and Preventive and Responsive Services
 Interpret test results and other student data
 Use data to develop comprehensive programs that meet student needs
 Assist all students, individually or in groups, with developing academic, career and personal/social skills, goals and plans
 Collaborate with parents/guardians and educators to assist students with educational, career and life planning
 Monitor student academic performance, behavior and attendance and facilitate appropriate interventions
 Coordinate student awards and ceremonies
 Promote safe, caring and drug free schools and provide substance abuse awareness and child abuse awareness
 Serve as a liaison between the school/family/community
 Develop, and monitor student plans: 504's, behavior and safety plans, threat and risk assessments, etc.
 Experience preferred
 Other duties as assigned by Superintendent, Principal or Designee
