QUALITY SPECIALIST
OVERVIEW:
The purpose of this job is to follow VPI’s Quality Management System, ensuring that quality products are manufactured in a safe environment.
PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively support and participate in the company’s safety and health program.
  • Production Quality Support:
  • Perform daily and weekly product testing as required for FGIA certification
  • Support documentation as required for FGIA certification
  • Water Testing
  • Follow VPI process and procedure for in line water testing as required
  • Track and report failures and out of specification conditions
  • Communicate results to Production and Quality leadership
  • Create and lead containment plan
  • Perform troubleshooting of test failures
  • Provide training of front-line team members in manufacturing processes
  • Provide education of front-line team members on requirements
  • Perform collection of leading metrics through manufacturing system audits
  • Supplier Quality Support.
  • Lead supplier quality improvement plans
  • Support supplier quality dashboards and auditing
  • Inbound audits of material to release to production, as required
  • Process all material rejection activity from first call through receipt of the vendor return authorization.
  • QMS process development and sustainment
  • Assist with development of quality processes
  • Facilitate structured “stand down” process to close the loop on found issues
  • Work with service to identify and pareto out of specification issues found in the field
  • Support improvement plans to eliminate found issues
  • Field test and field remediation support as necessary.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Skills:

  • Knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Comfortable communicating in a professional manor with internal and external customers
  • Deep knowledge of overall window fabrication.
  • In-depth knowledge of VPI’s Quality Management System.
  • Strong computer skills, specifically: MS office products and Cantor (ERP).
  • Decision making ability.
  • Highly motivated and self-directed.

Experience: (include relevant education and minimum years of experience typically required by the job)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of qualified experience in this or similar field of experience.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing principles and techniques are preferred.
