Quality Engineer

The Metallurgical Quality Engineer will work directly with the Quality Assurance Manager and the department supervisors to assist in managing projects concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality management for industrial processes, materials, and products. The qualified candidate will be in a metallurgical engineering role in Robstown , Tx Facility .

Responsibilities:

· Serves as the primary metallurgical quality assurance resource to department supervisors for problem identification and resolution and production efficiency,

· Oversees Metallurgical Laboratory (Metallography, Tensile Testing, Impact Testing, Collapse and Hardness Testing)

· Assists the Quality Assurance Manager in maintaining the content of the QMS (Quality Management System) and contributes to its continuous improvement

· Leads Six-Sigma process improvement projects and reports to upper management

· Report to management on quality issues, trends, and losses

· Develops workflows and documentation according to API/ISO standards

· Compiles and analyzes quality/production data (KPI, audit findings, Non-Conformance Reports, repairs), identifies trends and recommends corrective actions

· Compiles, writes, and delivers training material and metallurgical reports on quality standards and facility activities

· Prepare ITPs and other technical documents for OCTG and HFW pipe manufacturing line.

· Develop recipe sheets for heat treatment and HFW pipe manufacturing line.

· Participates in internal audits for quality compliance

Requirements and Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering required

· 2-5 years of experience required

· Experience in OCTG and / or Line Pipe Manufacturing is preferred.

· Familiarity with API/ISO standard

· Advanced Excel, AutoCAD, Matlab skills would be beneficial

· Candidate shall have strong initiative (self-starter)

· Candidate shall have a keen attention to detail

· Candidate shall be skilled in problem analysis and problem solving

· Candidate shall thrive and promote participation in a team environment

· Candidate shall be able to work well within an organization interfacing with industry professionals, sales team, other professionals, and staff; be comfortable and confident interacting with corporate leadership and key department personnel, and possesses diplomacy, enthusiasm, and perseverance

· Some overtime and travel are required
