Production Editor Job at Clemson University
The Production Editor project manages the timely publication of Open Education Resources (OER) in the newly established SCALE imprint of Clemson University Press and related publications as assigned, providing support to authors during the manuscript-submission process, superintending the manuscript-to-bound-book process. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
60% - Essential - Publishing Processes:
Oversees the publishing process of books in the SCALE imprint, including the texts produced as part of the CO-DREAM OER project (https://bit.ly/CODREAMClemson), and other publications as assigned. Assists authors in the manuscript submission process. Sets and maintains production schedules. Hires freelancers and reviews their work; typesets and/or composites, and assigns DOIs.
25% - Essential - Press and OER Support:
Supports the Press, and its OER program by presenting in webinars or giving other professional presentations about publishing or related topics. Holds meetings with faculty interested in publishing OER in the imprint. Serves as an ex-officio member of the Editorial Board for the SCALE imprint.
15% - Essential - Copyright Activities:
Assists with copyright and permissions vetting of illustrative and textual materials included in books in the SCALE imprint. Trains authors to track permissions and develop art logs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: A Bachelor's Degree In a related field.Some experience in publishing, project management, and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Master's Degree in English, Communications, or Publishing; experience working on a publication or for a publisher
