Production Associate

Summary/Objective

The production associate performs all tasks involved in the packaging of the company’s products, to include operating all of the machines on the packaging line. These include the filling, capping, sealing, coding, labeling, and taping machines. The responsibilities include retrieving packaging materials, such as containers, caps, and labels, and then operating the packaging line to produce the company's products. The associate may be required to fill some products manually. The associate will be required to meet daily production quotas. This position includes working in a warehouse and manufacturing plant environment. The company follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.

Essential Functions

Read production orders and perform work as assigned by department supervisor.

  • Retrieve packaging for production (including containers, caps, labels, and boxes).
  • Run, maintain, troubleshoot equipment on the packaging line (including filler, capper, labeler, and taper).
  • Manually fill containers.
  • Attach appropriate labels and tags to products and packages.
  • Pack finished goods into correct packages and boxes.
  • Prepare and print product labels.
  • Place finished goods on appropriate pallets.
  • Prepare finished goods for shipment; operate stretch wrapper.
  • Stock and retrieve finished goods.
  • Operate a forklift as required.
  • Maintain production schedule assigned by supervisor.
  • Notify supervisor of any mechanical or production issues.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts. Forklifts are active within the plant and warehouse environment.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must have adequate vision and dexterity to safely operate the forklift and be wary of others operating forklifts. The position involves standing and walking for long periods of time throughout the day. The employee is required to move drums and other containers and lift more than 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the ability to work overtime on an as needed basis depending on company needs.

Travel
It is a requirement that you have your own transportation. We have 2 facilities in Tonawanda and at times you may be reporting for work at either plant.

Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Education and Experience
2 years previous warehouse and production experience.

Forklift experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
