We are looking for a Process and Utility Engineer who will become a key member of Eat Just / GOOD Meat teams striving for the development and commercialization of sustainable and cost-effective plant-based egg and cultivated meat.

This role will be responsible for managing day-to-day activities for utility operation, preventative maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting at our pilot plant in Alameda, CA. This role will also be responsible for building and utility expansion and continuous improvement projects.

This role will report to the GOOD Meat Pilot Plant Director

What you'll do*

Start up, commissioning, and qualification of clean utility systems

• Troubleshoot skidded equipment and clean utility systems for unexpected issues and determine path forward.
• Develop and maintain preventative maintenance plan for all process and clean utility systems
• Develop and maintain calibration plan for all process and clean utility systems
• Develop plan for internal vs external maintenance and instrumentation team.
• Hire and manage utility, maintenance and instrumentation operators or contractors
• Maintain P&IDs and other technical documentations for all building and clean utility systems (electrical diagrams, equipment layout, Functional Specs, DDS)
• Collaborate with process and project engineering for consistency within network, as much as possible.
• Manage projects for capacity expansion and continuous improvement on site.
• On-call for issues. Timely resolution of utility issues to support cell culture process.
• Provide input and expertise for EH&S programs
• Manage Lock Out Tag Out and Confined Space Entry program for safety
• Maintain and continuous improvement on building and clean utility automation systems

What you'll bring*

Degree in Chemical/ Mechanical Engineering.

• 5+ years experience working with clean or high purity utility systems.
• Experience with biotech, pharmaceutical or semiconductor clean utility systems required.
• Understanding of fermentation or cell culture processes preferred.
• Hands-on-person with a can-do attitude that thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to multi-task and meet aggressive deadlines.
• Mission-driven, self-directed, and enthusiastic about managing and collaborating with an inter-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers.
• Strong safety mindset.
• Ability to pass a standard background check.

Additional Information & Requirements*

This is a full-time role based out of our Headquarters in Alameda, CA.

This role requires the ability to travel without restriction both domestically and internationally 15-20% of the time and possess a passport or ability to do so.
