Responsibilities:
The position will serve as the nurse triage for reviewing incoming clinical for inpatient admissions considerations. This person will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to determine admission disposition. This role is the navigator and problem solver to identifying beds to accommodate incoming patients.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Review clinical for medical complexity
- Present clinical with persistent medical conditions
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary medical or psychiatric symptoms
- Interface with emergency department staff as needed
- Assess appropriateness for milieu
- Coordinate and facilitate interdisciplinary meetings
- Provide education to Patient Intake Coordinators and Patient access Coordinators
- Track and analyze quality assurance measures
- Manage interdisciplinary conflict
- Facilitate admissions on unit, as needed
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a Nursing Degree. BSN preferred. Current licensure as an RN with the Minnesota State Board of Nursing is required.
- Inpatient Psych experience required (2+ years)
- Process and/or project management experience required
- Medical and psych triage experience required
- Emergency department experience preferred
- Must have critical thinking skills and ability to problem solve
- Ability to communicate and make safe judgment calls in stressful situations
- Ability to multi-task, use time efficiently, and prioritize appropriately
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner in both verbal and written format, and models a positive teamwork attitude
- Must have basic computer skills using Microsoft Office products and EHR
- Ability to react quickly and calmly as part of a team to handle volatile and potentially emergent situations
- Quality Management- the individual looks for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
- After training, be able to manage disruptive and explosive patients.
