The Operations Learning & Development Program Manager is an effective leader and communicator responsible for designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating technical, interpersonal, and in-depth training programs in operational and production areas to new and existing employees. Executes training programs within cost parameters that meet or exceed customer expectations. Oversees and provides direction to team members, who are responsible for delivering hands on training to Production teams. Utilizes Lean methodologies and tools to continuously improve business processes and eliminate waste. Supports workforce planning to include managing job bids, interviewing candidates and assisting with hiring decisions.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Conducts training needs analyses and makes recommendations specific to the creation of new training programs and the updating of existing programs.
- Provides expertise to lead the design and development of training curriculum for technical/production team members training in support of company goals.
- Conducts training needs analyses to determine specific program requirements
- Designs, develops and delivers formal training programs for audiences of varying levels of sophistication; training programs covering specified areas such as equipment, technology, processes, procedures and specifications.
- Provides oversight for training programs provided by external suppliers.
- Works with subject matter experts or aligns operations leadership resources to develop specific curriculum.
- Researches and analyzes trends and best practices and incorporates into current processes and learning objectives to enhance training programs.
- Recommends external training programs as needed.
- Researches and establishes a methodology to measure the effectiveness of course materials and level of benefit provided (ROI, customer satisfaction, etc.).
- Selects or develops testing/evaluation procedures to be used at completion of training.
- Supports the adoption and use of Training Within Industry (TWI) practices.
- Facilitates the development of On-the-job Trainers in all areas of Operations.
- Responsible for Train the Trainer execution to standards.
- Applies appropriate project management techniques and tools in the execution of work.
- Completes Lean training and reinforces the use of Lean principles.
- Runs and/or participates in 3P and Kaizen events as Training SME.
- Participates in and supports the delivery of new hire orientation and onboarding.
- Oversees the appropriate usage of the Learning Management System (LMS); responsible for compliance records ensuring courses are completed as required.
- Creates training schedules, ensuring training is received and completed as needed.
- Maintains records and prepares statistical reports to evaluate effectiveness of training programs, including cost/benefit analyses; monitors trainee progress.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of production, operations, logistics, or human resources experience including training or educator experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 7 years of production, operations, logistics, or human resources experience including training or educator experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility;
- Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
- Experience leading project teams
- Required to work an off-shift (swing or graveyard) when necessary.
WHAT WILL SET YOU APART
- Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of production, operations, logistics, or human resources experience including training or educator experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 9 years of production, operations, logistics, training, educator or human resources experience including training or educator experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility;
- 2 years of learning and development, education or adult learning instructional design experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility;
- Supervisory/managerial experience.
- Experience reading, analyzing and interpreting common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing processes.
- Experience conducting statistical analysis in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of the technical aspects of bottling equipment.
- Skilled in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Access at an intermediate level.
- Skilled in coaching, influencing, facilitation, presentations, process development, analysis and problem solving.
- Experience applying Adult Learning Techniques, ADDIE Model, Instructional Design and evaluating training programs (Kirkpatrick 4 levels).
- Experience with LMS platforms and integrating multimedia into web-based courses and familiarity with tools used to produce web-based materials, such as Presenter, Articulate, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Captivate, digital video, digital camera, digital audio, and editing software.
Compensation
- Hiring Salary Range: $79,100 - $118,700
- Actual compensation amount paid may be lower or higher to be determined by factors other than race and gender such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
