Covia is looking for a dynamic Finance and Accounting Manager who will have a positive impact on the team at its Wedron, IL. plant location. The Finance Lead will report to the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis but will directly support plant management, operations leadership and the Covia business. This position will be responsible for performance measurement and monitoring of the plant including business analysis, forecasting, annual budgeting, building and maintaining financial models, and assisting with the enhancement and maintenance of the plant specific financial planning and reporting systems and processes.
The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:
- Partner with the plant management to support decision making by providing reporting, analyzing results, monitoring/explaining variances, identifying trends, providing guidance, developing insights, creating projections, etc.
- Lead all plant specific financial analyses, including but not limited to, product cost analysis, budgeting / forecasting, customer / product profitability analysis, ROI analysis, and overall plant optimization projects
- Assist in the monthly and year end close process (lead by shared services) to ensure accuracy and completeness of monthly financial statements:
- Partner with procurement to assign purchase orders to appropriate expense categories and cost center
- Assist with internal and external audit requests
- Ensure all receipts are recorded in appropriate period and assist with monthly accruals
- Oversee processing of maintenance work orders and issuance of parts and supplies to ensure accuracy of maintenance expense and perpetual inventory
- Participate in physical inventories
- Prepare and summarize key financial summaries including, plant Income Statements, plant cost analytics, and volume/price/cost/mix analysis
- Perform financial analysis and complete analytical reviews of plant performance and drivers on a monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date basis versus budget, forecast, prior year, etc.
- Assist accounting functions for accurate product costing
- Identify trends and data anomalies for review with plant management
- Work with IT and other functions to query, gather, aggregate, and organize data and transform the data into meaningful information, tabular and graphical reporting, and analysis
- Analyze, develop, and implement new and enhanced reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes and tools to help make the processes more effective and efficient.
- Coordinate in the collection and analysis of competitive landscape and market information specific to the plants addressable market
- Continuous development through reading, seminars, and on-the-job training.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance or another related field required
- MBA or CPA preferred
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience within Accounting or Finance required, including leadership experience
- Prior experience within a plant or similar environment
- Prior experience within a SOX compliant environment
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work cross-functionally between plant personnel, procurement, and other corporate functions
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex financial analysis and financial modeling
- Experience with enterprise planning software, a financial consolidation system, reporting development, and financial reporting
- Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with IFS, SAP, JDE, Oracle, QAD, Infor, AS/400 or a similar ERP system (IFS experience preferred)
- Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse applications
- Experience with Microsoft applications (Word, Power Point, SharePoint, Project, etc.)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate results and present data to upper management in a way that is easy to use and understand
- Proven track record of working with large groups or teams to track business performance and implement changes resulting from financial analysis
- Ability to multi-task and manage heavy volume of requests with tight time frame parameters
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
