Job Description
The Team
We are seeking a Manager, Engineering—Structural or Civil Engineering to join American Tower’s U.S. Tower division’s Engineering team. The Engineering team maintains the safety and longevity of the Company’s towers and ensures a high level of compliance with industry standards. Day to day you will coordinate the team’s activities to meet production goals. As an Engineering Manager, you will partner cross-functionally to minimize workflow problems, or changes that would impact the team, and provide guidance about rules and regulations related to technical matters affecting the team.

- Exercise technical responsibility for sealing engineering work and serve as engineer of record for various projects.
- Review requests for engineering services, working within existing processes to determine required service type.
- Evaluate tower structures, mounts, and foundations for tenant configurations to perform and supervise analyses on projects of low to unique complexity. Generate required engineering deliverables.
- Complete and supervise designs of modifications on projects of low to unique complexity including tower reinforcement, mount reinforcement, extensions, and foundations; review drawings and work with the Design team’s staff to resolve discrepancies.
- Perform and supervise the review of tower inspections and determine the level of remediation required.
- Provide quality support for inquires and problems within defined areas of responsibility.
- Guide, mentor, and train internal and external customers about technical and theoretical engineering concepts.
- Ensure customer and sales system data are current while adhering to quality control procedures.
- Produce reports on team’s key performance indicators, analyze results, and make recommendations.
- As an Engineering Manager, you are responsible for the recruitment, performance management, and career development of Engineers and/or Designers. You’ll also be expected to cultivate a collaborative team dynamic that enables us to meet our business objectives.

What You Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (“PE”) license and able to become licensed in multiple states via reciprocity required.
- Required experience must include at least one of the following: 6 years of communication tower design and analysis, 10 years of construction or field engineering of land development, or 10 years of civil engineering.
- A minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience required.
- Working knowledge of TIA/EIA-222 code and other relevant specifications preferred.
- Approximately 5% travel may be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.
- Strong organization, planning, and project management skills; ability to prioritize tasks for self and team to meet requirements and deadlines.
- Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.
- Strong leadership skills; ability to drive and motivate team to achieve results.
