Learning Specialist Grades 7-8 Job at Ratner Montessori School

The Lillian and Betty Ratner M ontessori School, founded in 1963, is a coeducational independent M ontessori school
for students aged 18 months through 8th Grade. We offer small classes taught by a distinguished faculty and a rich
program of academics, athletics and the arts. The school operates on a beautiful 14-acre campus in Pepper Pike,
Ohio, a suburb on the east side of Cleveland. The Ratner M ontessori School has won high regard in the Cleveland
community for being exceptionally responsive to the individual needs of each student and for valuing diversity and

Job Description:
The Learning/Behavior Specialist facilitates academic support, supplements and extends classroom teaching,
works collaboratively to meet the learning needs of students with diverse learning needs by developing strategies
for learning, organization, and test-taking. The specialist can also work with the individual student or small groups
in developing social and emotional learning skills. The Learning/Behavior Specialist can identify learning needs
and develop intervention, academic support or behavior plans for student’s success.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Have background knowledge about ETRs and IEPs
- Collect data, report, and attend meetings with team members (the meetings may be after school)
- Collect data and report quarterly on Ohio Department of Education for students on IEPs
- Collect data and observe students to assist with creating behavior plans
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, Support Team, and parents
- Set up Ratner Learning Intervention Plans and Ratner Support Plans
- Assist with administration of State of Ohio testing and MAP testing
- Should have experience and training to assist students with executive functioning skills, study skills, written
expression, reading comprehension strategies, as well as SEL skills.
Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Education with an emphasis on Intervention. An Ohio
teaching license with M ild to Moderate Intervention Specialist. Qualified candidates should have experience
teaching grade-school aged students and experience as an Intervention/Learning Specialist. A sense of humor
is essential! Knowledge of Montessori philosophy and curriculum is preferred.
Salary
Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
