Job Description:
The Purchasing and Inventory Manager is responsible for leading the sourcing and inventory management function.
They will be responsible for bidding, sourcing, and contracting to ensure that the company’s operational needs are met, considering price, quality, and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply. They will be responsible for managing the company’s inventory to ensure proper paperwork and transactions are followed as well as manage cycle counts reconciliation. The Purchasing and Inventory Manager reports to the CFO and is based in our New
Eagle, PA office.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Developing procurement strategies that are inventive and cost-effective.
- Sourcing and engaging reliable suppliers and vendors.
- Negotiating with suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous commercial terms.
- Reviewing existing contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure on-going feasibility, cost, and value.
- Building and maintaining long-term relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Performing risk assessments on potential contracts and agreements.
- Preparing procurement reports and analyzing purchase price variance.
- Manage inventory including receipts, transfers, and adjustments.
- Manage cycle counts and yearly physical counts as well as reconciling to book balance and explaining variances.
- Manage creating and updating bill of materials including customer formulas.
- Manage and update landed standard costs of all inventory items, running cost roll-ups.
- Manage, supervise, and develop purchasing buyer.
Skills, Experience Required:
- 5-7 years Accounting/Inventory Control/Purchasing/Supply Chain experience required.
- Bachelor in Business Management/Accounting/Logistics/Supply Chain or related experience is required.
- In-depth experience and strong command of Excel required.
- In-depth understanding of accounting principles concerning inventory, costs, sales and gross margin.
- Must demonstrate high level of systems knowledge. This individual will be required to retrieve information from the Inventory and Accounting ERP system and will need to possess the analytical skills to interpret data and summarize findings to management.
- Must be analytical and possess problem solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of inventory and purchasing management software (e.g. ERP).
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
- Pre-employment physical, drug test and background check required.
- Ability to quickly adapt to changes in direction and/or project approach.
- Importing materials and working with freight forwarders, customs, ports, and trucking.
