Responsibilities:

The Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) will work on Defensive Cyber Operations for Space (DCO-S) providing expertise and support in network engineering. This is a fast-paced and highly challenging position where you will be a member of a team. The ISSE is responsible for ensuring the appropriate operational network posture is maintained at local space force bases. This includes the following activities related to maintaining situational awareness and initiating actions to improve or restore network cybersecurity posture. Local Travel 25% between Colorado Springs, Denver and New Mexico. The ISSE will:

  • Knowledge of VMware, Palo Alto, Cisco, Gigamon network taps, Virtual Routing and Forwarding/VRF, 8570 DOD Cert
  • Support updates and upgrades to program systems and networks to address obsolescence, vulnerabilities, technology insertion/demonstration, expansion, or system resiliency
  • Assess communications systems and the relationship with Information Assurance, Cryptographic Systems, Data Processing, Storage Systems, Voice and Video systems, and emerging Cloud Services
  • Critical skills include architecture/requirements definition/analysis, engineering/design, fielding/integration, and test/turnover
  • Work proactively, independently as a member of a highly effective technical team while developing approaches to solutions
  • Install, maintain, audit, and support a secure Red Hat and other Linux network environment(s) and limited web/data application service
  • Maintain applications/protocols: Internet Protocol (IP), Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS), File Transfer Protocol (FTP), and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
  • Knowledge of and experience managing containerized machines, i.e. Docker containers
  • Maintain configurations using SIMP and Puppet/puppet agents
  • Interface with local customers and provide IT related support to quickly resolve problems
  • Analyze and troubleshoot system anomalies to ensure optimum equipment performance
  • Perform periodic maintenance, hardware upgrades and replacement, firmware updates and system configuration changes
  • Manage data backup library to include storage of tapes, disks and other magnetic media at the customer’s location and off-site storage facilities
  • Attend planning and requirements meetings with IT staff, Program Managers, and customers
  • Prepare system for operational use and support operational tests
Education/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science with strong technical background. Prefer B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering Computer Science, or similar
  • 8 years network systems experience
  • VMWare, Red Hat Linux administration, and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) experience
  • Must Have Active Top Secret security clearance
  • IAT Level 3
  • Strong technical background in communication, network protocols, and network management
  • In-depth understanding of OSI Model, with emphasis on Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport and Session layers
  • Knowledge of network design (e.g. LAN/WAN, routing protocols, routers) and protocols (e.g., IPv4, BGP, MPLS , VPN, IPSec, DNS) , Multicast routing
  • Layer 2 equipment, protocol and technology (switches, LACP, STP, VLANs)
  • Preferred - working knowledge of Department of Defense mission, activities and terms
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with members of a diverse military and civilian team
  • Work independently with little to no supervision on assigned tasks
  • Comfortable with developing/processing a large amount of documentation in a short period of time
  • Experience with Ansible Tool, WAN/LAN experience

For this role, the compensation range for candidates in Colorado is ($120K- $160K) . Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. FTI has a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
