Job Summary

The Coordinator I - Grants supports and directs school-based grant development and district-based grant proposal development up to $300,000. Reviews, refines and formats district-level materials for public dissemination. Develops, plans, organizes and conducts formal and informal face-to-face professional development for both school-based and district staff. Ensures applications align with district and school initiatives, and seeks opportunities to meet the needs of individual schools. Supports special projects.

The salary range is $67,207 - $96,799 (12 months/260 days)

This position may allow for a hybrid remote work schedule (work from home for a portion of the workweek) within the state of Wisconsin.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, education or related field is required.
  • Minimum of one year of grant or fundraising experience, or technical writing for an urban entity is necessary.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong writing, editing and proofreading skills is required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees grant writing that takes place in schools and supports district-level projects, which includes the editing, formatting and successful submission of grant proposals.
  • Facilitates the work of grant writing teams, develops timelines and manages overall work plans to ensure timely and quality submissions as well as compliance with funding requirements.
  • Creates project narrative templates, budget templates, project timelines, and budget narratives.
  • Follows protocol to finalize necessary forms, agreements and reports from funders and partners.
  • Develops proposal-related materials such as one-page summaries and talking points for district-level initiatives.
  • Maintains accurate data entry and monitoring practices using the department’s project management platform, financial system and electronic filing system.
  • Provides content for the grant development website, mConnect, email list and grant opportunity database.
  • Facilitates communication between schools and central service staff to ensure alignment of curricula, programs and funding.
  • Creates and facilitates grant-related professional development in multiple formats (online, in-person, etc.) and at multiple skill levels to meet the varying needs of district staff.
  • Assists school staff, principals, department heads in interpreting federal, state and philanthropic requests for proposal on development matters.
  • Creates and manages an asset map of school-based grant programs as well as an internal database of focus areas by school to align grant writing efforts.
  • Researches and provides notice of grant opportunities by managing the grant development email listserv.
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously and is strong in time-management.
  • Maintains excellent working relationships with all levels of management and staff.
  • Actively supports the Five Priorities for Success and participates on project teams as assigned.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
