Summary: The Freight Logistics Coordinator works to identify freight-oriented solutions and source new opportunities for material transport in support of Millwood Logistics, ensuring that the transported materials meet specific technical specifications, negotiating shipping terms, route schedules, and evaluating drivier performance. This is a highly collaborative role that requires close collaboration with sales and operations teams to understand their needs and execute material transport accordingly, seeking best options based on volume, route, and overall value over time.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Manages, communicates, and conducts behavior in direct support of company foundation and pillars.*

2. Understanding the logistical needs and demands of the Operation *

3. Researching and identifying prospective suppliers and vendors*

4. Research and development of routes, based on efficiency*

5. Evaluating materials and suppliers according to key business criteria*

6. Negotiating with the suppliers to include, quality, quantity, delivery time, etc. *

7. Analyzing the invoices to ensure accuracy.*

8. Maintaining a healthy relationship with the vendors and suppliers. *

9. Tracking stock in the inventory and restocking the items as and when required. *

10. Reviewing and reporting inventory reports, bills of lading, or manifests*

11. Resolving shipment issues faced by the customer.*

12. Updating the order details in the internal database. *

13. Staying up to date with the latest trends in the industry.*

14. Follows Occupational and Safety Health Act (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements as well as all local, state, and federal requirements and Company expectations for the Fleet*

15. Participates in pop-up pre-trip and post-trip inspections of driver’s assigned vehicles using utilizing standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report)*

16. Immediately reports any unsafe situations and dispatches services needed*

17. Participates and cooperates in all scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as required*

18. Works closely with establishments to improve route efficiencies and identify problems or unsafe accounts*

19. Notifies the Plant Manager of any injuries/accidents, property damage, and near misses*

20. Responds to driver issues, including blocked containers, pick-up or drop-off conflicts, or other problems that arise on the route*

21. Communicates customer requests or issues to Plant Manager*

22. Keeps track of customer tickets for every route / location*

23. Reviews route assignments throughout the day to ensure sustained safety and efficiency*

24. Orders supplies for drivers as needed*

25. Advizes drivers on traffic problems, such as construction areas, accidents, congestion, and weather conditions *

26. Able to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and criminal background check

27. Up-to 25% travel*

28. Provides additional Operational Support, when practical

29. Performs other related duties as assigned to meet business needs

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no direct reports.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or relevant field. Specific experience and time in a leadership role within the discipline may also be considered in lieu of education requirements. Proven work experience as a Logistician, Fleet Manager, or a similar position in a Freight-based environment or Logistics department.

Certificates and Licenses:

Active DoT physical and CDL required. Professional fleet management, logistics-focused certification, TWIC, or other accredited certifying credential is preferred, but not required.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have practical familiarity with Microsoft Office, spreadsheet software, inventory software, or other applicable logistics software programs.
