Divisional Controller – Corporate Accounting Job at Landmark Properties

The Division Controller will assist with the review, consolidation, and eliminations of Landmark’s financial reporting. The role will set objectives and guidelines, coordinate audits and tax returns, evaluate the workforce performance and develop strategies to optimize processes. They must monitor the progress of activities & projects and produce regular reports and presentations to keep the executives informed.

Reports to: VP of Accounting

Direct Reports: 2 Senior Accountants

Location: Landmark Properties Corporate Office (Atlanta, GA or Athens, GA)

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Oversee general ledger function of key corporate business areas to assure accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with GAAP. Including but not limited to:
    • Standard corporate accruals related to payroll and G&A expenses
    • Equity method of accounting related Landmark minority investments
    • Intercompany invoicing/accounting
    • Eliminations for consolidated reporting
  • Oversee transactional accounting activities, review of monthly trial balances, and monthly close process.
  • Manage a team of 2 direct reports.
  • Coordination of annual GAAP audits and corporate tax returns.
    • Prepare/coordinate responses to audit requests and inquiries
    • Work across the organization to gather information in a timely manner
  • Coordination with HR in relation to corporate payroll to ensure accuracy of reporting and incorporation into GL software
  • Assist in creating and implementing process improvements across the accounting platform

Requirements:

  • Approximately 5-8 years of experience expected and preferred
  • Undergraduate degree is required, preferably with a focus in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant subject matter.
  • CPA license preferred.
  • Experience with accounting software, ERP systems, and databases.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
