ACLI Program Coordinator(*Restricted) Job at Northern VA Community College
This position serves as the American Culture and Language Institute (ACLI) Coordinator for the NOVA Workforce division. The overall responsibility of the ACLI Program Coordinator is to assist and support the Associate Director of Business, ESL, and TESOL Programs and is responsible for development, implementation, coordinate and manage non-credit English as a Second Language (ESL) programs for assigned programs and locations.This is a mid to senior level position.
Duties and Tasks:
- Managing programs at multiple locations
- Assisting the Associate Director of Business, ESL, and TESOL Programs in the development and delivery of existing and new ESL programs
- Delivering informational sessions to prospective students as needed
- Overseeing new student placement testing
- Overseeing ESL registration guidance and assisting students when necessary
- Ensuring standard implementation of ACLI curricula
- Ensuring program procedures and policies meet established guidelines
- Hiring, supervising, and evaluating instructors
- Coordinating departmental assessments
- Advising instructors on student progress and appropriate strategies to address students’ needs
- Planning and/or assisting with student activities
- Managing student issues
- Managing the delivery of customized/contract programs
- Serving as a liaison for his/her locations with other college departments
- Providing guidance to students on course selection
- Performing other duties as assigned for the purpose of meeting the ongoing needs of NOVA Workforce
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite; PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS); Workforce Enterprise System (WES); Canvas
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of other cultures
- Extensive knowledge of ESL teaching methodologies and curriculum implementation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters in TESOL or Masters in Linguistics with a TESOL Certificate or a masters in a closely-related field.
- Significant years of experience in coordinating higher education and workforce ESL language development programs
- Significant years of experience in working with a highly diverse multicultural population.
- Some experience supervising ESL program personnel.
- Experience coordinating business/contract ESL training.
- Experience coordinating TESOL training.
