Excelsior Wellness provides access to a comprehensive continuum of education, behavioral health, primary medical, social determinant, and human service providers, holistically rooted in the eight dimensions of wellness. Our subsidiaries include Excelsior Wellness Center, Excelsior Family Medicine, Excelsior Integrated Care Center, and Excelsior Holistic Schools.

Program mentors work with a diverse population of youth maintaining a staffing ratio contingent upon CDC guidelines. Mentors function as behavioral health supports, modeling healthy habits and positive social interactions. Mentors must exhibit a genuine interest in the growth, development, and safety of each youth, fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment for all program participants. A Program Mentor’s ability to establish respect and authentic connection through compassion, empathy, and effective communication is paramount for creating and maintaining an atmosphere conducive with wellness and recovery. Ensuring that each youth has an opportunity to reach their full potential is a tremendous task that requires hard work, flexibility, and dedication.

Qualifications:
*

• Registered Agency Affiliated Counselor Credential or ability to become registered within 60 days required.
• Minimum High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred.
• Minimum one year of experience working and/or volunteering directly with youth experiencing adversity.
• Ability to provide education and instruction on art, culinary, construction, STEM, physical education, cosmetology and/or other self-care intervention practices preferred.
• Ability to calmly and repetitively model appropriate behaviors and in challenging situations.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for employment. *New employees with out-of-state licenses must obtain a Washington State Driver’s License within 30 days of employment*

Responsibilities:

• Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging that youth want to be in
• Promote positive interactions between staff and youth in accordance with trauma informed care standards and child safety guidelines
• Assists in the monitoring of youths’ treatment progress according to established measurables; implements, monitors, and collects data on treatment plans for individual youth as directed or needed.
• Participate in staff development activities and regular scheduled meetings
• Demonstrates empathy and sensitivity to the dignity of each youth served, to the youths’ unique service needs, including youths’ beliefs and values, ethnic norms, language needs and racial identity.
