Job Description –
Job Title: Youth Housing Specialist
Primary job location: The Drop
Reports to: CE Operations Manager
Status: Full Time Position, 8-5
Wages: $18-$25/hr. DOE
Summary
The Drop center is looking for an eager and positive individual to provide case management for our RRH and Host Homes program. This program serves youth 12-24 experiencing homelessness or at risk of being homeless with a focus on LGBTQ, Native American, and domestic violence victims. This position will require you to engage with youth and provide case management, help them stabilize and get into permanent housing. It is important that youth are greeted with a smiling face and inviting nature. An ideal person will showcase their maturity and responsibility by handling these tasks which are critical to the job.
Responsibilities
- Outreach for clients in Port Angeles, Sequim and west end rural areas
- Greeting and assisting in intakes for new clients
- Client led case management, with a moderate case load 7 RRH & 7 HH
- Housing searches and pledges for RRH
- Managing relationships with host homes families
- Coordinate training for families
- Conflict resolution with families for HH
- Engage and nurture outside resources for clients, refer to resources when needed
- Coordinate and communicate with landlords, advocate for clients housing needs
- Act as a resource and referral source for clients providing in person linkage when able
- Facilitate client access to other housing resources if not transitioning to obtain permanent housing.
- Develop a discharge plan with clients before they exit the program.
- Maintain case files, Homeless Management Information System and document services provided
- Maintain current and closed files for data collection, statistical, and reporting purposes.
- Keep Director informed of daily operations of the program.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A positive demeaner
- Basic computer skills
- Driver’s License and clean driving record
- Ability to keep records and HMIS intakes
- Ability and willingness to work independently, as a part of a team and to make sound judgement without onsite supervision.
- Strong communication skills
- Lived life experience in relation to homelessness or at-risk youth is not required but preferred.
- Ability to pass a background check
