Please note: This is an hourly, wage, non-exempt position without state benefits, and is limited to approximately 20 – 29 hours per week not to exceed 1,500 hours in a 365-day period (May 1 – April 30).

Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, the qualified applicant will possess:
Working knowledge of employment interviewing techniques, employment and wage laws and guidelines, and office operations and etiquette.
Strong customer service, oral and written communication, and computer skills (experience using Microsoft Office Professional and/or similar software).
Ability to interact effectively with employers and the public and to discuss, interpret, and apply agency standards and procedures.
Ability to conduct interviews and research, and use web-based applications to enter data and conduct database searches.
Ability to evaluate skill sets and needs, and to adapt to changing priorities and workloads.

Prefer experience in human resources, community services, VEC workforce services and/or training programs.

Special Instructions to Applicants
This is an hourly wage position without benefits. Additionally, please note:
1.) Wage employees serve at the will and pleasure of the appointing authority. Wage employees are not covered by the provisions of the Virginia Personnel Act; therefore, they are not eligible for the benefits which are provided to salaried employees, such as leave credits, holiday pay, health and life insurance, access to the grievance procedure, etc.
2.) Wage employees are paid only for the hours they work.
3.) Wage employees may not work beyond 1,500 hours (29 hours weekly) in a 365-day period. (The 365-day period is considered the employee’s “work year” and begins on the first day of May every year.)
4.) Wage employees are eligible and encouraged to apply for classified positions when/if they become available.
