Position Information
Job Duties
1. Strive constantly to improve the methods, content, and value of each course taught, at all times striving to better understand the students and their needs for the present and future. Objective based, prescriptive, individualized methods of instruction will be stressed.
2. Teach all Welding courses as assigned by the campus Dean of Teaching & Learning.
3. Counsel and advise student in matters related to their programs of study.
4. Assume responsibilities for teaching, in addition to skills and knowledge, good citizenship, respect for the rights of others, respect for college property, and the proper attitude toward the college, both in and out of the classroom.
5. Assume responsibility for the upkeep of shop and classroom equipment and inventory in the program area.
6. Provide additional support in other student services activities during pre-registration and registration periods.
7. Assist with campus-wide student recruitment and retention efforts.
8. Serve as an active team member of appropriate campus and college committees as appointed and work collaboratively with all colleagues to ensure that the public is served in a pleasant, professional, and accommodating atmosphere.
9. Attend appropriate conferences, workshops, and seminars to facilitate professional development.
10. Abide by all Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College policies and procedures.
11. Abide by all State regulatory and licensure requirements.
12. Coordinate and cooperate with other campuses/centers and schools for efficient operation of the program.
13. Serve as Advisor of SkillsUSA or other student organizations and encourage student participation and assist in all activities, conference, and competitions of this and other student organizations.
14. Serve as public relations agent for the college with the understanding that each contact, whether with a student or with a member of the community, is very important.
15. Document college data needed to complete pertinent reports in a timely manner.
16. Maintain individual student files for a minimum of three years.
17. Accept and performs all duties to the best of his/her ability.
18. Perform other duties that are implied, related, and/or recommended by the campus Dean of Teaching and Learning or his designee.

Job Description
General Statement of Function: The incumbent is responsible for the instructional program assigned, advising prospective and currently enrolled students in the program and reports to the Dean of Teaching and Learning or his designee. The incumbent is an integral part of and provides support for all functions of the Jackson County Campus.
Mandatory Qualifications
(M1) Associate Degree in Welding from a regionally accredited institution with at least two years of current full-time work experience in Welding
OR High School Diploma with at least five years of current full-time work experience in Welding [applicant with a High School Diploma must be willing to obtain an Associate Degree in Welding within one year of employment].
(M2) Full-time Welding experience with Structural and Pipe Welding.
(M3) Demeanor, training, and skills necessary to provide effective instruction to a diverse group of individuals with varying degrees of previous experience.
(M4) Excellent interpersonal communications skills.
(M5) Familiarity with Internet, Email, and Word Processing functions.
Desirable Qualifications
(D1) Experience with non-traditional and multi-media delivery of instruction.
(D2) Have a current
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
(D3)Experience working at a community college.
