The Web Development Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Web Development team. As the Web Development manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing all development and infrastructure activities. You’ll manage a talented team of front-end, back-end, and full-stack developers and will be responsible for the overall technology-stack roadmap, deployment of ongoing site enhancements and fixes, as well as the ongoing health of site infrastructure.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development and execution of the Web Development Strategic Plan, which aligns Web Development initiatives with business goals and strategies.
• Act as a buffer between the team and process overhead, so each team member can focus on the timely delivery of the project goals.
• Lead and define web development best practices, coding standards and workflow processes.
• Establish priorities and work assignments based on the business needs of internal and external customers.
• Keep stakeholders, collaborators, and other interested parties well-informed of the team progress and activities
• Own the technology stack, ensuring a high-performing, agile, and scalable solutions framework that can support rapid business expansion.
• Recommend, design, and develop site architecture to enable a best-in-class user experience.
• Coach and mentor the team, helping them expand their technical knowledge and advance their leadership skills.
• Lead a team of developers, prioritizing activities, removing obstacles, and ensuring the delivery of quality code on time and within budget.
• Establish performance monitoring systems and protocols to ensure a high degree of availability, system readiness, and global site performance.
• Ensure a high degree of readiness and clarity going into sprint cycles to remove ambiguity and minimize risk.
• Work with cross-functional stakeholders and development teams to integrate new systems into the site.
• Provide insight to UX Designers about platform requirements and limitations.
• Develop, implement, manage and direct policies, processes and procedures for the application development team towards their utilization for web development team effort.
• Review and analyze existing applications effectiveness and efficiency, and then develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.
• Lead pre-testing phase of development by evaluating projects in order to identify potential problem areas, and make the appropriate recommendations.
• Ensure that development projects meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.
• Lead the creation and optimization of development processes to bring efficiencies to the team.
• Oversee project completion through routine regular and intentioned checkpoints on quoted hours, work involved, employee tasks, and leads post-project reflection as well.

Education and/or Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or comparable professional experience
• 5+ Years of web development experience
• 2+ Years of Management experience

Other Skills and Qualifications

• Proficient knowledge of Node.js back-end programming language
• Exceptional knowledge of database technologies such as RDBMS or NoSQL
• Proficiency working with, creating and documenting APIs (REST or GraphQL)
• Direct experience work with Google Cloud products such as Firebase, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, a plus
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and content management systems
• Direct experience with standard web technology, including HTML, CSS, Javascript, TypeScript, and APIs, experience with React and JQuery preferred
• Strong understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms
• Good knowledge of contemporary information systems industry trends, products, techniques, technologies, and processes
• Highly proficient with modern CSS and HTML techniques and strategies while maintaining cross-browser compatibility
• Deep understanding of database development and consumption utilizing document and relational databases
• Strong business acumen – You understand the impact of decisions to the business and customers
• Proven ability to work in teams with a collaborative interpersonal style
• Detailed and thorough in work habits with multi-tasking ability
• Strong leadership and decision-making skills
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
