Position Summary
The primary function for this role is to develop and train in the responsibilities of a distribution center leader. While in this role the candidate will be fully vested in the day to day operations and responsibilities of a DC manager and be ready to fulfill the needs of the company with filling roles and providing coverage in the leadership areas for all distribution centers. Along with exposure to the day to day operational responsibilities, the candidate will also participate in a mentorship program in which he or she will be exposed to and trained on basic leadership skills.
Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provide leadership for large employee population in non-exempt positions.
- Maximize and optimize resources in support of the company’s goals and objectives in serving customers.
- Design and implement staffing strategies to ensure work force is flexible and can respond to variations in work flow.
- Effectively lead and develop utilizing performance management tools to enhance performance and achieve individual as well as company goals.
- Ensure that performance goals are set and achieved, through the proper execution of performance metrics as it relates to productivity, safety, quality, and customer service.
- Ensure productivity, safety, and quality goals are achieved through a process of continuous process improvement.
- Work closely with employees to communicate and educate on work instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure standardization and sharing of best practices with operations, across the Distribution Centers.
- Ensure the company’s physical assets (building, equipment, inventory, etc.//) are properly controlled, maintained, protected and utilized.
- Utilize process improvements to continually improve operational efficiencies.
- Develop LEAN training classes and implement policies and procedures to improve distribution center operations.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Up to 8 year(s) of proven leadership skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive employee and customer relations.
- Ability to effectively promote and lead change.
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills are required.
- Ensure compliance with Company, OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations and power industrial equipment requirements.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to drive results.
- Position requires occasional travel to other DC’s, corporate offices, and field locations.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Education: High School Degree or GED in relevant field or equivalent.
