New Journeys (NJ) is a voluntary, intensive early intervention program that provides coordinated specialty care for individuals experiencing their first episode of psychosis. A small interdisciplinary program works with individuals and their natural supports to assist participants in achieving optimal functioning in home, school, work, social and leisure areas of their life. The NJ Team provides individual resilience therapy (IRT), education and employment support, family support, peer support, case management, and medication management. Treatment can involve multiple contacts per week with the individual and/or natural supports, and can occur in the office, community, or in the individual’s home. Enrollment in New Journeys can last up to two years with the goal that individuals are in the recovery phase of psychosis and confident in their abilities to live a fulfilling, meaningful life upon graduation.
The Vocational Specialist provides education or employment support services based on the individual placement and support model of supported employment informed by age appropriateness and client needs. The Vocational Specialist shall provide rapid assessment & job/school search; facilitate job development and job placement and/or school enrollment; tailor the job or school setting to individual preferences, interests, situation; and provide job coaching & provision of ongoing support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Understand and adhere to all agency policies and procedures, WAC and RCW requirements.
  • Operate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and ensure services are provided in accordance with the program’s model.
  • Develop and implement care plans, measurable objectives, and obtainable goals, in collaboration with the client, natural supports and community partners, evaluating clients progress and adjusting as needed.
  • Meet program’s productivity requirements for direct service. Services are provided in home, community, and clinic settings.
  • Maintain client records and all other required documentation in a timely and confidential manner, in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Represent the agency and its services to the community in a positive and professional manner. Maintain positive and collaborative relationships and work effectively with: colleagues, referral sources, team members, community resources, community contacts, area businesses and industries, and the agency's medical, management, professional and support staff.
  • Develop relationships with local businesses, schools, and community organizations to support vocational and educational resources for individuals in the program.
  • Participate in required staff meetings, including regular supervision and weekly clinical staff meetings. Accept delegation and follow through with specific expanded assignments and responsibilities within FBH system such as quality improvements teams, task groups, committees, consultations, mentoring or training responsibilities.
  • Provide creative and consistent engagement regarding employment and education opportunities for all individuals in the program and develop readiness to work on vocational or educational goals
  • Provide initial and ongoing assessments, employment assistance, family support and education and other services and supports critical to an individual’s ability to live successfully in the community.
  • Assist individuals to develop education and employment goals related to their career interests and develop career profiles. Provide education on the medical, social, and economic benefits of returning to work or school and more specific benefits counseling.
  • Work with individuals to obtain their education and employment goals and provide training and support to help them in building sustainability, success, and satisfaction on the job.
  • Provide ongoing support to and advocacy for individuals to help them maintain education and employment goals.
  • Participate in any required training, consultation calls, and onsite visits or reviews when required by contract.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:
REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health or related field from accredited college or university.
  • Two years of experience working with psychiatrically impaired populations, OR
  • A master’s degree in a behavioral health or related field from accredited college or university and one year of experience working with psychiatrically impaired populations.
  • At least one year of experience providing employment services, preferably in providing evidence based supported employment/education services, also known as the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model of supported employment/education (SEE).
  • Must apply for Agency Affiliation within 30 days of hire.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Actively with individuals of varied, backgrounds, trauma experiences, cultures, education level and socio-economic status.
  • Knowledge of community social services resources preferred.
  • This position requires travel within the Spokane community. Must have reliable transportation, insurance and an active driver's license and be willing to use personal vehicle in the course of work.
PAY RANGE (Hourly/ Non-Exempt): $25.89-$31.53*

  • All pay is based on longevity at Frontier Behavioral Health; thus the starting pay is $25.89 per hour.
