NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION: The Visitor Center Supervisor supports the Visitor Center Manager in ensuring the smooth operation of the Visit Ventura offices and Visitor Center. The role requires solid administrative proficiency, as well as customer service and retail capabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

ADMINISTRATIVE PROFICIENCY

  • Responsible for supporting the Visitor Center Manager in meeting the day-to-day needs of the office facility and Visitors' Center. This may include but is not limited to, maintaining supplies, office equipment & servicing maintenance, brochure organization, filing, and other relevant duties.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite as all work by Visit Ventura team is done in Google.
  • Administration of all activities dealing with payroll services including accuracy and compliance with Visit Ventura policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for coordinating volunteer scheduling and supporting other volunteer supervision as requested.
  • Coordinate Visitor Center coverage, including occasional availability to cover open weekend shifts as needed.
  • Support staff in coordinating meetings in Conference Room, and other areas as requested.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with the city council of Ventura and the Board of Directors.
  • Organize and facilitate special events as required.

CUSTOMER SERVICE PROFICIENCY

  • Meet & greet walk-in guests as a Ventura Ambassador.
  • Help guests in person, by phone, and internet (respond to emails w/ questions).

RETAIL OPERATIONS SUPPORT

  • Support Visitors Center retail operations as required, including POS/Clover and sales proficiency, inventory receiving, and other responsibilities as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficient in Google Suite, including Google Documents, Google Slides, Google Sheets, and Google Folders.
  • Familiarity with general office management responsibilities and equipment operation/maintenance.
  • Familiarity with retail operations and inventory management
  • Experience coordinating volunteers and volunteer coverage
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision
  • Analyze situations/priorities carefully and adopt appropriate and effective courses of action
  • Ability to solve problems using basic mathematics
  • Ability to accept criticism; work calmly and effectively in occasionally stressful situations or in emotional face-to-face discussions
  • Stand and walk for extended periods, up to four hours at a time, make frequent repetitive hand movements associated with computer use, and occasionally lift objects of 25 to 40 pounds
  • Bilingual skills are highly preferred for the position

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
