An expanding startup company seeks a visionary Vice President of Water Sciences to grow its Wastewater Epidemiology division and develop other potential product offerings. The position will be based on a bustling university campus in Chicago in a new and cutting-edge lab.

The COVID-19 pandemic underscored a global need for comprehensive pathogen testing, analysis, and action. Going beyond existing tools (such as individual COVID or opioid testing), wastewater monitoring can dramatically expand the ability of public health officials, institutional facility operators, and real estate owners and managers to understand and respond to existing and emerging health threats in an economically viable way. This need presents an opportunity to develop a unique offering to limit the spread of illness, protect human health, and minimize business risk/disruption with exceptional capabilities in strategy and planning, testing, and analysis, in service to government, institutional, and real estate customers.

The VP Water Sciences will help build company image by collaborating with customers, government, community organizations, and employees; and enforcing ethical business practices. In addition, the VP Wastewater will work closely with the Chief Science Officer and Director of Commercial Science Business Development to understand customer interests, priorities, and the science behind the program.

The VP of Water Science will also collaborate and manage a team of Research Scientists focusing on product quality and development.

• Obtains profit contribution by managing staff and establishing and accomplishing business objectives.
• Increases management’s effectiveness
• Develops strategic plan by studying technological and financial opportunities
• Accomplishes subsidiary objectives
• Coordinates efforts by establishing procurement, production, marketing, field, and technical services policies and practices
• Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

The VP of Science is expected to have a presence nationally within Wastewater Sciences and maintain existing professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies.
