This is a non-exempt position eligible for overtime, if applicable.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain vehicle and pedestrian detection equipment, fiber optic cable, traffic signals, communication systems, traffic surveillance cameras, and all related equipment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Associate’s degree, vocational technical degree, or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two (2) years of college education in electronics or related field
- Two (2) years of related experience
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs cabling, traffic signal equipment, fiber optic communication equipment and traffic monitoring cameras
- Responds to traffic signal malfunctions during and after normal working hours and tests new and repaired equipment before installation
- Locates underground communication, signal cabling, conduit, and utilities
- Provides assistance to contractors and other agencies and inspects for quality assurance
- Operates aerial bucket and platform trucks
- Performs related work as assigned
SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Requires:
- Flagger and Work Zone Safety within six (6) months of hire
- Minimum level 1 IMSA Signal Technician within twelve (12) months of hire
- Valid Driver’s License
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16
Subject to call back, on-call rotation, and overtime
Must be able to operate Urban County Government equipment and vehicles in a safe, prudent and responsible manner
EXAMINATION
Examination will be a training and experience evaluation from information provided on the application at filing deadline date.
