TOOL & DIE TECHNICIAN
ROLE:
The primary role of a Tool and Die Technician at IB-Tech is to maintain production tooling (dies, fixtures, and gages) used to produce automotive seat components. This includes sharpening and adjusting tools on a periodic basis, as well as repairing tools when failures occur. Tool and Die Technicians also assist Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality Control departments with repairs and improvements to equipment and processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Tool & Die Technician is responsible for the following activities:
- Perform periodic PM’s on production tooling, such as metal stamping dies, fixtures, and gages.
- Repair production tools that are damaged or worn.
- Troubleshoot tools to identify the root cause of part quality issues.
- Implement solutions to repair tools and maintain daily production schedule.
- Machine new details to replace damaged or worn components.
- Record time and parts used during PM’s and repairs in a computerized system.
- Manage inventory of consumable tooling, utilizing the CAP system.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To be considered, a candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications:
- Experience at journeyman level tool and die maker
- Possess tools required to perform all job responsibilities
- Ability to operate overhead crane to separate and maneuver tools
- Ability to interpret blueprints and analyze tolerances of parts and tool components
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers and work in a team environment
- Adapt to changing work directives, based on management and customer demands
- Experience in automotive industry preferred
