POSITION: Part-Time Testing Counselor/Outreach Specialist
HOURS: Flexible/TBD
The Testing Counselor/Outreach Specialist will provide HIV related Counseling and
Testing and Referral services. The Testing/Outreach Specialist will conduct targeted outreach (traditional and face-to-face interaction in the community and internet-based communication) to Black and Latino MSM at risk of acquiring HIV and their sexual partner. The Specialist will link individuals to PrEP, HIV treatment for positives, health information, education, referrals, risk reduction interventions, condom distribution, and
STI awareness, testing and treatment.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES
- Provide HIV Counseling, Testing and Referrals to Black and Latino MSM populations in compliance with strict standards of the Department of Health and
PREVENTION 305
- Conduct targeted outreach – both traditional and internet – to high-risk Black individuals, including people living with HIV/AIDS and Men of color who have Sex with Men
- Engage individuals in their own neighborhoods or venues where they typically congregate to provide HIV related health information, education, referrals, and linkage to services
- Assist individuals in receiving medical care for HIV infection and other support services. Verify that services were accessed post-referral
- Distribute condoms to at-risk Black and Latino MSM
- Assist with recruitment for other prevention interventions and services, including those provided by PREVENTION 305
- Adhere to strict procedures of confidentiality, release of information and data security
- Maintain accurate and complete participant records, tracking contact, counseling, testing, referrals, and outreach performance as defined by evidence- based models, local/state/federal entities and PREVENTION 305
- Communicate effectively with clients for appointments and follow-up on referrals
- Maintain accurate and current process, procedural, and program, and inventory logs of specific outreach and testing activities, health materials, condoms/lube,

ADDITIONAL POSITION DUTIES:
- Conduct peer and educational outreach on dating apps (Grindr, Scruff, etc.),
Instagram, and Facebook, providing accurate and consistent information aboutPrEP and other HIV prevention options
- Communicate with Program Leaders and Supervisors to improve the outreach strategy through weekly input and analysis of outreach activities
- Provide culturally competent HIV counseling, testing and referrals to target populations
- Assist clients resulting or presenting as HIV-positive in receiving medical care and other support services. Verify and document that services were accessed.
- Participates in other community events and activities that involve target populations to better deliver access to PrEP and related services
- Conduct conversations about sexual health topics casually and comfortably
- Participate in and help lead online events and social media live streams
- Identify other online sites and real-world venues where target populations can be effectively and efficiently reached
- Provide timely follow-up with client leads and individuals requesting information via our website, social media channels, or phone
- Evaluate client needs to determine the best prevention or treatments options
- Assist clients in making appointments with our healthcare providers
- Document outreach activities and record relevant demographic information
- Meet or exceed monthly goals and provide weekly reporting of program deliverables and goals
- Maintain strict confidentially of clients and patients
- Ability to organize and manage a team of individuals from different fields, backgrounds, and diverse cultures
- Technology-savvy, especially on mobile platforms
- Experience with data collection and database systems
- Strong written and oral communications skills in English and Spanish
- Proficiency in major computer applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
PREFERRED (but not required) SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:
- Florida certified HIV tester (500/501)
- One or more years experience in LGBT community-based organization or healthcare setting working with gay/bisexual men
- Experience in a sales or customer service role
- Experience working in a healthcare environment
- Experience with electronic medical records systems
- Experience or understanding of basic marketing principles and advertising concepts www.prevention305.org
