Calspan’s Subsonic, Transonic Wind Tunnel, is the only independently owned and operated wind tunnel in the United States. Our staff is known for its flexibility and responsiveness to our customer’s needs. Customers appreciate this approach, as it enables them in real time, to refine test programs. The Technician will support testing and engineering including operating and maintaining of test equipment for the Transonic Wind Tunnel Department located in Buffalo, New York.
Responsibilities:
This will be a rotating 1st and 2nd shift opportunity.
- Support testing by efficiently operating equipment and ensuring accurate results and records. Provide support in the resolution of electrical or technical problems.
- Perform set-up and installation of equipment, instrumentation, cable routing, soldering and checkout before, during and after the test.
- Support the maintenance, installation and repair of test equipment to maximize operational availability.
- Document test procedures and installations. Provide guidance with data calculation.
Preferred Education / Experience for Technician:
- AAS in related discipline
- 3+ years in related discipline or
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to above
Preferred Knowledge / Ability for Technician:
- Troubleshooting mechanical or electrical problems
- Electrical and electronic principles
- Perform operations and execute test procedures for engineering, scientific, or real-time data acquisition
- Read and interpret engineering plans and specifications
- Testing and inspection principles and procedures
- Microsoft Office
