Location / Division Specific Information
The Thermo Fisher Scientific Memphis site is part of the PSG-CTD Division. It is a multi-product and multi-client biopharmaceutical site. We provide storage and order fulfillment of commercial and commercial free pharmaceutical products for our clients. We have capabilities to support and store products that require cold chain and ambient processing.
How will you make an impact?
The Team Lead will provide daily leadership to ensure the departmental productivity, quality, service, and financial goals are met. You must effectively connect with the supervisor regarding production, condition of equipment, and personnel performance as well as provide suggestions for problem prevention and resolutions. These duties will be performed according to established safety, security, and quality guidelines in our GMP facility.
What will you do?
- Promote and facilitate a safe work environment for all employees and take appropriate action to correct unsafe acts and procedures.
- Responsible for leading teams in daily distribution activities, productivity, and quality within assigned department.
- Organize and direct workflow for the department when the supervisor is unavailable
- Identify and implement activities to improve efficiency, quality, and reduce waste
- Observe and determine progress toward completing daily goals, moves team members as needed
- Partner with other departments to improve workflow or achieve resolutions to open items
- Use WMS as needed, ensuring that inventory entries and adjustments are reflected accurately
- Plan and execute training and cross training of the department staff to acquire skills on new and existing processes
- Participate in audits as necessary
- Carefully handle fragile product, removing damaged product as necessary
- Examine, pick, pack, sort, arrange, count, store, and process items for storage and/or shipment in accordance with established procedures and customer requirements
- Willing to cross-train in multiple areas within the warehouse
- Lead and drive Continuous Improvement - PPI (Practical Process Improvement) events by encouraging employees to enter JDIs (Just Do Its) and perform Gemba's
- Ensure quality protocols are being met, follow PDMA (Prescription Drug Marketing Act), Warehouse, Good Distribution policies, and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- Process cold chain products, as required, in a -20 freezer and 2-8 cooler
- Learn, adapt, and train on new concepts
- Other duties as assigned
How will you get here?
Education
- High school diploma or GED required, Associates degree or higher preferred
Experience
- 4+ years’ experience in warehousing or supply chain environment
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- High attention to detail
- Experience in WMS
- Strong sense of urgency
- Ability to wear PPE as assigned
- Walk and stand up to six hours at a time
- Use WMS and RF scanning devices to perform entry level distribution tasks
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Critical thinker and problem solver
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Willing to work weekends and overtime as needed
- Forklift experience preferred
