Job Description:
BCS is seeking a Sustainability Analyst to join its team working with the clients at the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Sustainability Performance Division (SPD). The BCS team provides research, analysis, communication, and administrative support to SPD. SPD oversees departmental sustainability efforts required by various Executive Orders and Federal statutes and regulations.

Job Requirements:
As a member of the BCS team, the Sustainability Analyst will support SPD efforts by performing the following tasks:

  • Communication support (25%): Lead the development of internal and external communication efforts by ensuring SPD’s website pages are current; producing and distributing SPD’s quarterly newsletter; and coordinating and reviewing DOE Sustainability Award nominations, selection, and plaque distribution.
  • Administrative support (25%): Assist with planning, coordination, conducting, and taking minutes of meetings, conferences, workshops, and other engagements. Manage the office’s shared email and calendar.
  • Copyediting (10%): Support the development of internal and external reports by providing content and copyediting. Reports include DOE’s Sustainability Plan and Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan.
  • Document management (20%): Assist with the development of guidance documents, fact sheets, and training sessions to improve data quality and ensure compliance with sustainability requirements. Maintain and create Standard Operating Procedure documents.
  • Data management (20%): Support sustainability data collection, quality assurance, and control with trend analysis and verification of source documents for a sample size of the data set. As needed, support and advise sites on reporting and requirements, create trend graphs, and contribute to target setting and projection efforts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred in related field with at least 2 years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deliver results under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work well individually and in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with a federal government agency and knowledge of government processes.
  • Experience ensuring documents are compliant with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Experience using Mailchimp.
