Supply Chain Regional Director Job at Microsoft

We are responsible for delivering over 200 Microsoft web portals, Live and Online Services around the world including infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability. Within CO+I, the strategic Supply Chain team is responsible for establishing a supply chain that can meet the ever-growing growth of the Microsoft Cloud and our customers. We support a portfolio of complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-billion, multi-year datacenter construction and operations of those assets. We are looking to fill a critical role of Supply Chain Regional Director who will be building stakeholder collaboration and direct engagment in contract negotiations to set standards for the region.

Responsibilities
- Manages, leads and delivers success through empowerment and accountability by modeling, coaching, and caring.
- Drives the strategy, development, and execution of the rhythm of business (ROB). Uses strategy plans to inform structure and business insights to predict business outcomes.
- Leads supply chain execution strategy and contract management for all data center construction supplier contracts in the region in partnership with the leadership team and business partners.
- Drives key performance indicators (KPIs) in alignment with strategy to help streamline business strategy. Works with the organization to establish, adjust and report against targets to drive scale.
- Works in partnership with cost to approve and define project budget strategy. Oversees the development and alignment of metrics for budgeting and forecasting; identifies actions that can be taken to course-correct and drive performance improvement.
- Tracks the use of role-based compliance training and new trainings; drives the training completion rates.
- Drives cross-team projects as needed to meet the changing business/project environment and manage complex business needs.
- Leads and publishes executive-level communication with a variety of internal audiences. Develops presentations and messaging to articulate the team's mission, key projects, organizational/company strategy, and vision for team.
- Continuous Improvement: always seek ways to streamline, automate, and simplify processes.
- Strategic Sourcing: Aligns, maintains and executes sourcing/procurement strategies to continuously re-evaluate and improve procurement.
- Risk Communication: Continuously creates execution risk mitigation strategies and proactively communicates plans to broader teams if plans need to be adjusted accordingly.
- Regional Strategy: Develops and executes strategies for purchasing and contracted scope within the region aligned with regional and global category strategy.
- Implement Equipment (OFCI) and Construction Services/Subcontractor Management procurement and contract strategy plans to effectively deliver against forecasted plan, project goals. Execute and standard contract management strategies across projects.
- Suppliers: Oversees and manages supplier performance for the region. Proactively segments suppliers and utilizes engagement programs to improve performance and achieve business goals.
Contracting and Negotiations
- Provides guidance and direct engagement in project specific contract negotiations, and sets standards for the region. Addresses unresolved or broadly impactful escalations related to pricing and contract management issues, manages price, procurement requests, change orders and complex pricing issues across equipment and construction services to ensure compliance.
- Provides guidance and clarification on contract execution processes for consistency, accuracy, and timeliness across CO+I. Provides thought leadership and shares best practices.
- Leads partnerships with regional stakeholders and suppliers to identify systematic business threats and determine which sustainable elements, alternative solutions, and/or policy changes would optimally mitigate risks at scale moving forward.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 9+ years experience (including internships) in Data Science/Analytics, Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain, and/or Operationso OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 7+ years experience in Data Science/Analytics, Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain, and/or Operationso OR equivalent experience
- 7+ years postgraduate in supply chain, sourcing/procurement, contract negotiation and contract management experience specifically with large complex capital projects OR equivalent experience
- 5+ years of people management experience
- Worked in a cross functional team environment on dynamic large scale capital programs with direct sourcing and procurement experience on construction projects in excess of $100M
- 5+ years of driving sourcing/procurement strategy and supply chain execution for multiple categories including construction services, mechanical and/or electrical equipment with extensive experience of Data Center or Mission Critical projects (projects with a major mechanical / electrical engineering element such as hospitals, laboratories etc.)

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical, financial or business management field (engineering, finance, business management, supply chain, etc). Masters preferred.
- Knowledge of data center industry and experience managing a variety of project delivery methods - ability to lead a project team in defining risk and developing the appropriate contracting and compensation approach.
- Achieve results in midst of ambiguity and matrixed org.
- Technical ability to write contracts, ability to set up sourcing plans, contract negotiation strategies and execute them.
- Excellent communicator that can interact with diverse groups across organizational levels.
- Familiarity with common process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six-Sigma, etc.) and ability to facilitate change management.
- Ability to implement new processes and get buy in from a cross functional team.
- Able to drive sourcing execution strategy, contract management strategies, and supply chain execution for multiple categories (equipment and services)
- Able to integrate successfully into large-scale construction projects - large dollar contracts of over $300Million.
- Supply Chain Team development: leading teams on project oversight and professional development.
- Willingness & ability to travel up to 25%.
Sourcing and Category Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $124,800 - $266,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $159,000 - $292,200 per year.
