GENERAL SUMMARY

Responsible for the supervision of the natural gas gathering system operations, compressor facility operations and maintenance activities on the Link in West Virginia. Leads and directs the work of others. Reports directly to the Manager, Gathering Operations, and exercises independent discretion and judgment within established policies, procedures and practices. Results are reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to these policies, procedures and practices.

PRINICIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises the activities of gathering system maintenance and operations personnel as well as contractors as required.

  • Assists in the preparation of detailed efficiency studies and analyzes operations to conceptualize needs and determine requirements for facilities, equipment and operating personnel.
  • Provides input and assistance during the planning, design, construction and start-up phases of new facilities.
  • Maintains professional and high-level contact with customers, contractors and delivery pipeline personnel.
  • Ensures that Operations adhere to all Federal, State and Local regulations and codes.
  • Ensures that Safety and Environmental stewardship is prominent in the Operations environment through demonstration and enforcement of all Safety and Environmental standards. This would include an active role in Safety Meetings and Tailgate sessions.
  • Initiates and ensures completion of all Pre-Startup Safety Review processes prior to the commissioning of greenfield and modified operating assets.
  • Oversees scheduled system repairs and maintenance; ensuring coordination with all departments, customers and delivery pipelines to minimize the effect of any down time.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with contractual obligations to ensure that production targets are met.
  • Consolidates data and prepares daily, weekly and monthly reports as requested.
  • Daily, verifies new work, priorities and analyze workload to properly plan, resource load and schedule the work.
  • Assists in developing standard procedures for operations and maintenance.
  • Assists with the preparation, justification and control of annual operations and maintenance budgets.
  • Assists the Operations Manager with employee development, qualification and goals program.
  • Available for scheduled and unscheduled work, performs tasks that require physical exertion and is expected to respond to off-hour call-ins when contacted by phone.
  • Works closely with the Operations Manager to identify major maintenance and capital improvement projects to ensure operating systems and equipment meet reliability and efficiency objectives.
  • Optimizes work schedules for resource utilization and priority in alignment with the Operations Manager.
  • Leads and directs the work of others, including overall performance management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must have a high school diploma or GED and have at least five or more years of industry experience or specialized skills paired with multiple years of experience to provide for the following:

Must maintain and possess a valid driver's license for state of residency and be insurable.

  • An Associates or two-year technical degree in an Engineering/Mechanical discipline are a plus.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing throughout the term of employment.
  • Three years of experience in supervision and management is preferred.
  • Experience leading a team, as well as the proven ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Must have working knowledge of all Federal, State and Local Environmental and Safety laws including DOT, RMP and Air Quality permits.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) a plus.
  • Must have computer skills including Windows-based word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Must be willing to assist others, learn new skills, and participate in a productive team-oriented environment.
  • Skills in leadership and interpersonal relationships.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.

The employee in this classification will be required to frequently lift objects of up to 10 pounds in weight. Occasionally the employee must lift or move objects up to 40 pounds in weight. In addition, the employee will occasionally push or pull up to 70 pounds in weight.

Vision requirements for this position include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The employee performs job duties in a climate-controlled office environment and in a plant site. While working at a facility, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions, and may work near moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in the office but may become loud at the plant site.
