As a Supervisor of Infection Control and Prevention Program, you will act as a Subject Matter Expert and infection prevention resource under the direction of the Director of Infection Prevention/Regional Quality Programs.

  • Bachelors Degree in nursing or other healthcare/science related field required.
  • Data analysis, team facilitation and project management skills preferred.

License/Certification:
  • Current NM Nursing license if applicable.
  • Current Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required within one year, if not already certified.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and able to travel locally.

Experience:
  • Minimum three (3) years of infection prevention experience in an acute health care facility (multi hospital system experience preferred).
  • Experience in operational, nursing or infection control supervision preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills that foster trust, respect and dignity in the workforce and with patients.

Other:
  • Software application skills in Epic and Midas preferred.
  • PC software skills in word processing, spreadsheet and presentations are essential.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:
Provides direct supervision to Infection Preventionists.

Serves as a subject matter expert in Infection Prevention and Control, and Epidemiology as it relates to:
  • Conducting risk analysis using established techniques and strategies.
  • Serve on committees as needed.
  • The development of policy and procedures as needed.

Supervises the IPC Program to ensure standard protocols are met and needs assessments performed.

Supervises the distribution of case assignments to IPCs and works closely with the surveillance coordinator and understands surveillance practices and state and federal reporting requirements.

Performs case reviews as necessary alongside staff IPCs.

Provides SME consultation as needed, in partnership with Medical Director, to Employee Health, hospital department leadership and others.

Assists director in drafting communications, reports and preparing presentations.

Assists IPC team in prioritizing multiple projects, meet project deadlines and manage customer relationships using work plans and establishing timelines and performance metrics.

Shares 24/7 coverage w/ IPCs for the department during and outside of normal business hours. Responds t employee, physician and patient and/or visitor inquiries related to infection surveillance, prevention and control. Responds to emergency or disaster situations as required.
