Job Title: Camp Floater

Status: Part-time; Non-Exempt
Hourly Range: $18.00 - $19.00
Schedule: 10-25 hours/week, shifts may vary per location
Program hours of operation: 8:00AM – 5:00PM (varies per location)
Locations: LAUSD, Garvey Elementary School District (Rosemead/San Gabriel), Equitas Academy
Charters (Pico-Union), Green Dot Public Schools (LA), LAAAE (LA) and Environmental Charter
Schools (Inglewood/Gardena).
Program Information:
Woodcraft Rangers Day Camp programs provide campers with a full day camp experience that includes exciting club activities from our curriculum library mixed in with camp traditions that have been around for 100 years! Camp staff can choose to work in Day Camps, Sleepaway Camp, or both!
Position Information:
Camp Floaters are responsible for filling in as a Camp Leader on days/times when a substitute/floater is needed at a program. Floaters have the same responsibilities as Camp
Leaders during their club hours. Floaters are responsible for ensuring a fun and positive learning environment for campers and will support clubs of up to 20 participants. Floaters have the opportunity to grow, connect, play and have the greatest impact on their camper’s summer experience. Floaters are enthusiastic, love to learn and work with young people in an outdoor, summer setting!
Floaters may be assigned to multiple sites within a region or geographic area.
Overall Responsibilities:
- Ensure students are always in a safe environment (physical and emotional). Promotes an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity, for all program participants, staff, and families.
- Leads program activities that are FUN, engaging and aligned with whole-child approach
(social emotional learning, skill building, self-esteem, leadership, etc.…). WR has an activity catalog to support the development of activity plans.
- Monitors participant attendance and engagement to ensure participants are present and actively engaged in program activities.
- Build positive relationships with program participants, colleagues, and all stakeholders.
- Complies with all applicable safety requirements and emergency protocols, including, up to date on all trainings and required certifications.
- Participate in staff development trainings, as required, approximately 15 hours spread out over multiple weekends/intersessional days throughout the spring.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- FBI & DOJ Livescan clearance
- TB Test clearance
- First Aid & CPR certification (provided by WR)
- 6 months experience supervising a group of children in a school or recreational setting OR
6 units in child development.
- Woodcraft Rangers will require proof of vaccination for ALL employees providing any in- person work with staff or clients.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and move around a large facility/space. The employee is required to speak, hear, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.
