  • Proficient computer operation.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Medicaid and Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services Licensure regulations guiding Community Mental Health and/or Outpatient Services.
  • Consumer rights.
  • The nature, definition and cause of MH/ID/SA conditions including clinical and developmental issues.
  • Services and systems available in the community including but not limited to primary health care, MH/ID/SA support services, eligibility criteria and intake processes.
  • Different types of assessments, including functional assessments and their uses in service planning.
  • Treatment modalities and intervention techniques, such as behavior management, independent living skills training, supportive counseling, family education, crisis intervention, discharge planning and service coordination.
  • Types of MH/ID/SA programs available in the locality.
  • The service planning process and major components of the consumer service plan and ISP.
  • The use of medications in the care or treatment of the population served.
  • All applicable federal and state laws, regulations and local ordinances.
  • Human Rights Regulations/Reporting procedures.
  • Confidentiality rules and regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Complete screenings and comprehensive diagnostic assessments of individuals to determine medical necessity and eligibility for mental health and/or substance abuse services.
  • Guide individuals referred to WTCSB through a staged intake process in which eligibility, treatment readiness and motivation to change is determined; and intake and referral for direct service provision in completed.
  • Complete eligibility assessments and service authorization requests for third party payors.
  • Review and sign clinical and eligibility assessments completed by program staff.
  • Conduct and/or interpret standardized assessments to determine behavioral support needs including but not limited to the CANS, MCAS and DAST.
  • Develop and implement individual service plans at initiation of services.
  • Develop individual crisis plans that include the individual’s preferences regarding treatment in an emergency.
  • Conduct treatment readiness, orientation and motivational enhancement groups to individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse diagnoses.
  • Monitor individuals on the agency intake waiting list for changes in eligibility and identified service needs.
  • Provide crisis stabilization services and/or refer persons in crisis to Emergency Services who are on the waiting list and/or prior to intake.
  • Review and authorize individual service plans and quarterly summaries developed by program staff.
  • Complete documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations and WTCSB policy and procedures.
  • Make referrals to and work closely with other WTCSB departments/services including but not limited to: the medical department, Out Patient Services, Adult Rehabilitative Services, Case Management, and Children’s Services.
  • Make referrals to community service providers for those individuals who do not meet WTCSB eligibility requirements.
  • Work with private community based children’s service providers making referrals for state mandated Child & Family Assessments.
  • Comply with Human Rights Regulations/Reporting procedures.
  • Serve as a member of external and /or internal committees, attending meetings as requested or needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, related to program requirements and the provision of related mental health services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related Human Services field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years work experience in human services field, preferably in a mental health setting.
  • Candidate for Residency or Social Work Supervisee; or Resident in Counseling or Social Work Supervisee. Clinical Licensure as an LCSW, or LPC preferred.
  • Valid current driver’s license and acceptable DMV record at time of hire and continuously thereafter.
