Position Title
Study Abroad Coordinator

Job Responsibilities
Truman State University seeks a motivated and organized Study Abroad Coordinator to facilitate education abroad programming. The coordinator provides a high level of service and support for students participating in semester abroad and faculty-led programs by helping to develop relevant policies, procedures and tools to enhance enrollment in these programs.
The coordinator reports to the Executive Director of International Education.
Responsibilities: The Study Abroad Coordinator, in collaboration with fellow staff, contributes to the accomplishment of the following duties:
Student Advising and Promotion:
  • Meet with students one-on-one to advise on study abroad program options, course selections, and application processes
  • Develop and manage marketing materials, including website content, social media presence, and printed materials
  • Organize Truman State study abroad fairs, orientation and showcase sessions, and event tabling
Application Administration and Student Support:
  • Collaborate with other Truman departments and partner institutions to administer all aspects of student application process including application, enrollment, financial aid, international health insurance enrollment, and credit transfers and substitutions
  • Support students through pre-departure preparation and organize pre-departure orientations
  • Work with partner institutions and relevant departments at Truman to respond to any study abroad crises in accordance with established risk management procedures and to provide support services to students studying abroad
  • Manage all payments and invoices related to study abroad program, including all charges and payments from students and partners, in coordination with the business office
  • Facilitate the application and selection process for study abroad scholarships
Office Administration:
  • In collaboration with other CIEA staff, engage and supervise student workers in assisting with the promotion and administration of study abroad programs
  • Maintain all data and databases related to student participation in study abroad programs to inform policy and decision making for CIEA
  • Monitor and enforce existing CIEA policies and assist in the development of new policies, processes and standards to meet evolving needs
Program Development and Partnerships:
  • Organize calls for proposals and review processes for faculty-led programs and guide faculty to develop and execute high quality faculty-led programming
  • Facilitate and monitor administrative processes for faculty-led study abroad programs, including approving, budgeting, bidding, marketing, and evaluating programs
  • Foster good working relationships and maintain contract documentation and contact information for all existing international partners and institutions
  • In consultation with international admissions, coordinate exchange relationships and nominations

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Must be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident and must be able to pass a background check
