Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of one year experience working with older, urban youth
  • Spanish fluency preferred

  • Demonstrating ability and experience in meeting the needs of a diverse population of youth
  • Knowledge of Washington DC community and local resources
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work as a member of a team
  • Flexibility, commitment, and enthusiasm
  • Ability to attain police, child abuse, and medical clearances

Ongoing Responsibilities

  • Establish positive relationships with all students in caseload to generate a safe space for mentoring and advising
  • Monitor academic progress and attendance through regular communication with students, teachers and staff
  • Identify support needs, provide case management, and make necessary service referrals
  • Ensure that students receive adequate nutrition by serving breakfast and lunch each day and preparing grocery bags for students to take home
  • Complete necessary trainings and daily/monthly documentation for the NSLP (National School Lunch Program) to ensure compliance
  • Gather appropriate documents for students’ files; record all contacts with youth, family members, LAYC and Career Academy staff, and representatives from other agencies involved in the provision of services; and track outcomes regularly in the school’s database
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs
  • Participate in regular clinical supervision with Director of Student Support Services
  • Attend all staff meetings and professional development sessions and participate actively
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
