Title: Student Support
Location: Melrose Elementary Schools-Education Stations
Supervisor: Program Coordinator
Status: Part-time hourly, 18 hours/week or less, $18.00/hr., (non-union, non-benefit
eligible. Position runs through the Academic Year must be available Monday-Friday between the hours of 2:00-6:00. Start time maybe adjusted for MPS staff based on needs of the program.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and assist student with transitions during after school hours.
- Communicate daily with school day staff, site coordinator and family about the child's progess and make adjustments as needed.
- Provided individualized acitivites for a child
- Supervisor the child at all times during program hours

Qualifications:
- A appropriate degree in education, counseling, or special education.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and fingerprinting.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Must possess the ability to:
- Provide positive behavioral support and social emotional learning programs to benefit student
- Support individual children through observation, assessment, developing support and intervention plans, training and supervising staff, monitoring and progress reviews
- Execute best practices in discipline, social-emotional learning, and behavior management
- Build effective relationships with students, staff, parents and community members
- Collaborate with other community agencies to support children and families

- Ability to work in both normal and atypical offices, classrooms and school buildings
- Ability to drive freely around district to each building and perform duties at other sites
- Ability to walk, run, jump, squat, stoop, push, pull, stand, bend and dance
- Ability to to hear, understand, read and speak English
- Visual perception ability to see close, distance, peripheral, depth and adjust focus fields
- Ability to participate fully activities occurring both in a school environment and outside
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
- Ability to focus, maintain calm and exercise good judgement when subjected to a high noise or stress level
